Recommended Action
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that the City Council:

1. Formally accept as complete the Cycle 3 Federal Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Pedestrian Safety Improvements Project constructed by Calpromax Engineering, Inc.;
2. Authorize filing of the appropriate Notice of Completion with the County Recorder's Office; and
3. Approve release of the retention for $27,484 to Calpromax Engineering, Inc.

FISCAL IMPLICATIONS:
The Cycle 3 Federal SRTS Pedestrian Safety Improvements Project construction contract award was for $497,602, with an authorized construction contingency amount of $53,557, for a total construction budget of $551,159. The work was successfully completed for $549,666. The remaining unexpended project balance will be returned to the CIP Fund for re-appropriation to a future project.

BACKGROUND:
On November 20, 2018, City Council awarded a construction contract to Calpromax Engineering, Inc. for construction of the Cycle 3 Federal SRTS Pedestrian Safety Improvements Project. The project included construction of pedestrian safety enhancements at 35 different locations throughout the City, including:

* Pedestrian signage;
* High visibility crosswalks;
* Curb ramp bulb outs;
* A bike path in Polliwog Park;
* Flashing beacons and in-roadway warning lights; and
* Speed awareness signs.
