Recommended Action
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that the City Council:

1. Authorize the City Manager to execute a Contract Change Order with Comet Electric Inc., for $275,119.83 under the Downtown Traffic Signal Upgrade Project contract for Additive Bid Item No.12: Traffic Signal and American Disabilities Act (ADA) Ramp Modifications at Highland Ave and 15th Street, including additional mobilization (Attachment);
2. Authorize the City Manager to approve additional work, if necessary, for up to $4,800.

FISCAL IMPLICATIONS:
The original Downtown Traffic Signal Upgrade Project construction award was for $924,524, with an authorized construction contingency amount of $138,678, for a total construction budget of $1,063,202. At the time of the contract award in 2018, sufficient funding was not available to award Additive Bid Item No.12 for Traffic Signal and ADA modifications at the intersection of Highland Ave and 15th Street. However, an additional $280,000 was budgeted from the Measure M fund in Fiscal Year 2019-2020 to cover the cost of the additional work at Highland Ave and 15th Street, inclusive of mobilization costs and contingency funds.
