Recommended Action
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that City Council formally accept as complete the Morningside Drive Rehabilitation Project constructed by FS Contractors, Inc.; authorize filing a Notice of Completion with the County Recorder's Office; and approve the release of retention for $6,678.40 to FS Contractors, Inc.

FISCAL IMPLICATIONS:
The Morningside Drive Rehabilitation Project construction contract award was $145,892, with an authorized construction contingency amount of $29,178, for total construction budget of $175,070. The work was successfully completed under budget for $133,568. The remaining unexpended balance will be returned to the Streets and Highways Fund for re-appropriation for a future project.

BACKGROUND:
On February 5, 2019, City Council awarded a construction contract to FS Contractors, Inc. for the construction of the Morningside Drive Rehabilitation Project. Morningside Drive, between 10th Place and Manhattan Beach Blvd., is a Portland Cement Concrete (PCC) street that had compromised sections and required partial conventional slab replacement to restore its structural integrity. The work included full depth removal of the structurally damaged sections of concrete and replacement with new concrete that was tied in at designated joints.

DISCUSSION:
