RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that the City Council:

1. Accept as complete the Marine Avenue Park Skate Spot Project constructed by Salix Development Company;
2. Authorize filing of the appropriate Notice of Completion with the County Recorder's Office; and
3. Approve the release of the retention for $22,212.95 to Salix Development Company...Bo

FISCAL IMPLICATIONS:
On September 20, 2016, City Council approved a construction contract with Salix Development Company for $359,066 and authorized an additional contingency of $53,860, for a total construction budget of $412,926.00. The project was successfully completed under budget for $405,481. An LA County Regional Park and Open Space District Grant is expected to reimburse the City for $300,000 of these costs.

BACKGROUND:
On June 7, 2016, City Council approved the Marine Avenue Park Skate Spot Design and Tom Allard Memorial Bench. Shortly thereafter, the project was advertised for the receipt of construction bids. On September 20, 2016, City Council awarded a construction contract to the low bidder, Salix Development Co., for $359,066 and authorized an additional contingency of 15%, for a total construction budget of $412,926.

DISCUSSION:
Construction of the Skate Spot started on October 10, 2016 and was completed on March 10, 2017. The City processed five change orders with Salix Development Co. for extra work during the course of construction, w...
