RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that the City Council:
a) Waive formal bid requirements pursuant to Manhattan Beach Municipal Code Section 2.36.150 (cooperative purchasing); and
b) Adopt Resolution No. 24-0034 approving a three-year agreement with Yunex, LLC for on-call emergency response services for streetlights and flashing lights for an amount not to exceed $400,000; and
c) Authorize the City Manager to extend the agreement term for up to two additional one-year periods, if deemed in the City's best interest.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS:
Sufficient funding for the agreement is available within the Street Lighting & Landscaping and Building & Grounds Maintenance Funds. Future years will be budgeted accordingly.
BACKGROUND:
In 2019, the City purchased 927 streetlights from Southern California Edison (SCE). Since that acquisition, Public Works has been responsible for the maintenance, repair, and replacement of these streetlights. Given the nature and complexity of streetlights, the City has historically contracted for the maintenance and repairs of this equipment.
DISCUSSION:
Under this proposed contract, Yunex will provide the City with on-call streetlight maintenance and emergency repair services. Additionally, the contractor will provide emergency and/or regularly scheduled maintenance as deemed necessary by the City.
