Recommended Action
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that the City Council adopt Resolution No. 20-0056:
1. Approving continued participation in the Los Angeles Urban County Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program by entering into a three-year Participating City Cooperation Agreement for the Fiscal Years (FY) 2021-2022, 2022-2023, and 2023-2024 with County of Los Angeles; and
2. Authorizing the City Manager, or designee, to execute any and all documents necessary for participation in the Los Angeles Urban County CDBG Program.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS:
This Participating City Cooperation Agreement does not contain any direct monetary obligations. However, by executing this agreement, the City will continue to be eligible to receive approximately $110,000 annually in federal Community Development Block Grant funds from Los Angeles County. These funds are designated annually in the City's Capital Improvement Program (CIP) budget for construction of American with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant improvements throughout the City.
BACKGROUND:
The mission of the CDBG Program is to improve the quality of life for low and moderate income persons, the disadvantaged community, aid in the prevention of neighborhood deterioration and meet other urgent community development needs.
