Recommended Action

RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends that the City Council adopt resolution number 19-0063 appointing the City’s primary and alternative representatives to the California State Association of Counties-Excess Insurance Authority.

Body

FISCAL IMPLICATIONS:

There are no fiscal implications associated with the recommended action.

BACKGROUND:

The City is a member of the California State Association of Counties-Excess Insurance Authority (CSAC-EIA), a member-directed risk sharing pool of public agencies.  Membership in CSAC-EIA requires the City Council of each member City appoint a representative and an alternate representative to represent the City’s interests.

DISCUSSION:

On February 21, 2017, Council approved resolution 17-0005 appointing specific representatives to CSAC-EIA by name.  Said representatives have separated from employment with the City and it is necessary to appoint new representatives. Approval of the attached resolution will enable current staff to assume responsibilities related to insurance placement and oversight. Additionally, designating the representatives by position title rather than name will prevent the need for the City Council to pass a resolution each time there is turnover in one of its designated positions.

LEGAL REVIEW:
The City Attorney has approved the resolution as to form.
