Recommended Action
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that the City Council approve the Cultural Arts Commission recommendation to implement a Community Arts Grant Program.

FISCAL IMPLICATIONS:
The Community Arts Grant Program will be funded through the Public Art Trust Fund. At the September 19, 2017, City Council meeting, $50,000 was allocated from the Public Arts Trust Fund for the Community Arts Grant Program.

The current allocated balance including the original Sculpture Garden funding, is $737,533. The unallocated balance as of 1/9/2019 is $1,049,371.

BACKGROUND:
On September 19, 2017, the City Council approved a variety of Public Art Trust Fund projects, which includes the Community Arts Grant Program. The Community Arts Grant Program addresses the need of the community and local arts organizations to fund small-scale art projects within Manhattan Beach. On March 9, 2018, the City Council requested a proposal for additional "walkabout" events in Downtown Manhattan Beach, where streets are blocked off and additional entertainment is provided. These events would be funded through the Community Arts Grant Program.

DISCUSSION:
The proposed Community Arts Grant Program would support projects and activities that provide and support quality arts and cultural programming within the boundaries of Manhattan Beach. Programs and activities supported through the Community Arts Grants Program would take place throughout the calendar year and have the following conditions:
