RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that the City Council:
1. Accept as complete the Manhattan Village Field Fencing and Netting Improvements Project constructed by Quality Fence Co., Inc;
2. Authorize filing of the appropriate Notice of Completion with the County Recorder's Office; and
3. Approve release of the retention for $10,751.80 to Quality Fence Co., Inc.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS:
The Manhattan Village Field Fencing and Netting Improvements Project construction contract award was $195,500, with an authorized construction contingency of $19,550, for a total construction budget of $215,050. The work was successfully completed for $215,036. The remaining unexpended balance will be returned to the Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) Fund to be appropriated for future projects.
BACKGROUND:
On May 1, 2018, City Council awarded a construction contract to Quality Fence Co., Inc. for construction of the Manhattan Village Field Fencing and Netting Improvements Project. The work included replacing, repairing and painting worn out framework, mesh fabric and netting components on Manhattan Village's multi-purpose playing field perimeter. The work was coordinated to occur concurrently with the Village Field turf replacement work in order to minimize the impact on various user groups.
