Recommended Action

RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends that City Council adopt Ordinance No. 18-0013 amending the Manhattan Beach Municipal Code to authorize the City Council to conditionally issue special permits for the service of alcohol on the beach under very limited circumstances.

FISCAL IMPLICATIONS:

There are no fiscal implications associated with the recommended action.

 

BACKGROUND:

On April 3, 2018, the City Council introduced Ordinance No. 18-0013 authorizing the City Council to conditionally approve special permits for the service of alcohol on the beach under very limited circumstances on a case-by-case basis. Prior to the first reading, the City Council added a sunset clause, which automatically repeals the ordinance, without further action by the City Council, on August 31, 2018.

LEGAL REVIEW
The City Attorney has approved Ordinance No. 18-0013 as to legal form.


CONCLUSION
Staff recommends that the City Council adopt Ordinance No. 18-0013.
