Recommended Action
RECOMMENDATION:
Discuss the proposed designs and approve a new design for the City Lapel Pin. If City Council approves the proposed design the City will discontinue the purchase of the current City Lapel Pin and replace it with the approved proposed design.
Body
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS:
Sufficient funds are available in the City Council Fiscal Year 2017-2018 budget to purchase new City Lapel Pins.

BACKGROUND:
The current City Lapel Pin was last designed during the City's 75th anniversary celebration in 1987. Since that time, the City's Lapel Pin has not undergone a redesign.

At the November 21, 2017 City Council meeting, Mayor Howorth requested to agendize the discussion of a new design for the City Lapel Pin.

At the December 5, 2017 City Council meeting the City Council directed staff to return to City Council with revised designs of the City Lapel Pin. Since that time, staff has worked with designers on proposed designs for a new City Lapel Pin.

DISCUSSION:
Proposed designs of the City Lapel Pin are attached for City Council consideration. Staff is recommending that the City Council discuss the 12 proposed designs (numbered in Attachment #2) and approve a new City Label Pin design.

If City Council approves a proposed design, the City will discontinue the purchase of the current City Lapel Pin and replace it with the newly approved design.

PUBLIC OUTREACH/INTEREST:
If necessary, outreach will be conducted depending on City Council action.
