Recommended Action

RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends that the City Council adopt Resolution No. 18-0021, reducing the application fee for Historic Designation from $2,901 to $-0- and reducing the fee for Certificate of Appropriateness from a minimum of $3,199 to $1,500.

FISCAL IMPLICATIONS:

There may be minimal impact to staff resources in the Planning Division, particularly for the historic designation applications. However, the applicant is responsible for preparing most of the report, and it is not anticipated that there will be more than two or three applications a year.

A reduction in the fees will result in General Fund subsidization of Historic Preservation activities of an estimated $7,200/year based on the anticipated volume of 2-3 applications per year.

BACKGROUND:

At the City Council meeting of January 16, 2018, the City Council discussed this matter and voted to reduce the two fees to the dollar amounts listed above. If adopted, the attached resolution will enact those fee reductions.
