RECOMMENDATION:

Receive and file a report regarding Southern California Edison’s power reliability in the City of Manhattan Beach.

Body

DISCUSSION:

Southern California Edison (SCE) is the sole utility provider of electricity for the City of Manhattan Beach.  The company operates 16 circuits and an extensive network of transmission and distribution lines, transformers and substations that serve power to the City’s nearly 36,000 residents.

SCE’s representative, Francisco Martinez, will present to City Council an overview of SCE’s grid reliability in Manhattan Beach (presentation attached). This information includes historical reliability data for proving power through its circuits as well as SCE’s proposed infrastructure upgrades planned for the coming year.  A summary of both momentary and sustained outages and their causes will be highlighted as part of this presentation.
