Recommended Action
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that the City Council adopt Resolution No. 17-0035, which recites the facts of the General Municipal Election held in Manhattan Beach on March 7, 2017, declaring the results and such other matters as are provided by law.

There are no fiscal implications associated with the recommended action.

BACKGROUND:
At the November 1, 2016 City Council meeting, the City of Manhattan Beach adopted Resolution No. 16-0071 requesting the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors to consolidate the City's General Municipal Election on March 7, 2017 with the Los Angeles County Special Countywide Election.

On December 6, 2017 the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors approved and notified the City of Manhattan Beach that a special countywide election would occur. The County administered the election and canvassed the results of the City's March 7, 2017 General Municipal Election for three City Council seats and one City Treasurer.



DISCUSSION:
On March 21, 2017, the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk conducted a canvass of the March 7, 2017, General Municipal Election. Attached for City Council approval is a true and correct Canvass Certificate provided by the County.

CONCLUSION:
Staff recommends that the City Council adopt Resolution No. 17-0035 which recites the facts of the General Municipal Election held in Manhattan Beach on March 7, 2017, declaring the results and such other matters as are provided by law.
