RECOMMENDATION:

Receive report regarding the Southern California Gas Company’s Loop Project and, at the pleasure of the Council, provide direction.

DISCUSSION:
The Southern California Gas Company (SoCalGas) is proposing to install approximately 2.8 miles of 20-inch diameter pipeline from the northerly City limits at Highland Ave. / 45th Street to 33rd/Aviation Blvd (the “Loop Project”). The route includes approximately 2.2 miles along Rosecrans Blvd., with the portion west of Sepulveda Blvd. located in Manhattan Beach and the portion east of Sepulveda Blvd. located in El Segundo. This proposed pipeline project essentially creates a system loop by connecting to pipeline already located beneath Vista del Mar, El Segundo Blvd. and Aviation Blvd. within El Segundo (see Attachment #1 Loop Project Map). The City Council has requested that SoCalGas make a presentation on the project. Faviola Ochoa, South Bay Public Affairs Manager for SoCalGas, will be presenting a PowerPoint presentation on the Loop Project (Attachment #2).
