Recommended Action
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that the City Council:
1) Approve a Final Payment in the amount of $83,322.98 to GMZ Engineering, Inc. for the Sepulveda Boulevard and 2nd Street Water Main Replacement Project;
2) Formally Accept the Sepulveda Boulevard and 2nd Street Water Main Replacement Project as complete; and
3) Authorize filing of the appropriate Notice of Completion and the release of retention in the amount of $58,967.67.

FISCAL IMPLICATIONS:
Funding for this project has been appropriated by the City Council in the amounts indicated in Attachment No.1.

BACKGROUND:
This project is part of the City's ongoing program to replace aging water mains within the City's water distribution system. This project provided for construction of replacement water mains and new fire hydrants along Sepulveda Boulevard from Manhattan Beach Boulevard to 2nd Street and along 2nd Street from the Larsson Street Pump Station to the 2nd Street Pump Station. In addition, new or replacement pipes crossing Sepulveda Boulevard were constructed at 9th, 10th, and 11th Streets. According to City records, the existing water mains on the west side of Sepulveda Boulevard were approximately 90 years old. Replacing these mains and the main along 2nd Street will assure the longevity and dependability of the water system.
