RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that the City Council adopt Resolution No. 15-0043 accepting a sidewalk easement at 1101 N. Aviation Boulevard.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS:
There are no costs associated with the acceptance of the sidewalk easement.
BACKGROUND:
The proposed sidewalk was required as a condition of the development of a new office building located at 1101 N. Aviation Boulevard. The sidewalk easement includes property along the 11th Street frontage to meet ADA requirements adjacent to the driveway entrance. A future dedication for street easement along Aviation Boulevard will also be needed to meet the General Plan Transportation Element for Aviation Boulevard as a major arterial street. The future street easement will allow for one southbound travel lane and one southbound bike lane on Aviation Boulevard at its ultimate General Plan configuration.
DISCUSSION:
The property owner has agreed to dedicate the proposed sidewalk easements to the City at no cost. Resolution No. 15-0043 therefore provides for the City to accept sidewalk easement. The property owner has also agreed to dedicate the future street easement required on Aviation in the form of an irrevocable offer to dedicate at no cost. The City will accept the street easement on Aviation Boulevard at such time in the future when the City develops a project to widen Aviation Boulevard to its ultimate configuration.
