BACKGROUND:
The City of Hermosa Beach is processing an entitlement application and environmental review for a possible oil drilling and production process facility in Hermosa Beach. The draft Environmental Impact Report (EIR) and related documents is currently in a 60 day review period which ends on April 14, 2014.
DISCUSSION:
As is the normal practice, City staff is reviewing the draft EIR and related documents and will be providing a comment letter by the April 14, 2014, deadline. The proposed project is not adjacent or in immediate proximity to Manhattan Beach. However, staff has not yet completed their review of the EIR to determine if there are any impacts which may be of concern to Manhattan Beach. The Executive Summary of the Draft EIR is attached (Attachment 1) and provides an overview of the environmental issues and impacts identified. The full EIR and related documents are available on the City of Hermosa Beach website at www.hermosabch.org <http://www.hermosabch.org>.
CONCLUSION:
This report is being provided in order to keep the City Council informed regarding Staff's on-going review and involvement in the Hermosa Beach Oil Drilling & Production
