RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that the City Council:
a) Waive formal bid requirements pursuant to Manhattan Beach Municipal Code Section 2.36.150 (cooperative purchasing); and
b) Adopt Resolution No. 23-0045 approving an agreement with Insight Public Sector for a storage area network system for an amount not to exceed $132,642.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS:
Funding for this purchase exist in the Fiscal Year 2023-2024 Information Technology budget.
BACKGROUND:
Over the past five years, the City has made great strides in implementing and utilizing technology to effectively serve the public and provide information and data to staff in order to make informed business decisions. Implementation of systems such as the Tyler Munis financial suite and the Enterprise Permitting & Licensing (formerly EnerGov) system have improved efficiencies internally while also providing the public with greater access to the City organization through online services.
DISCUSSION:
Directly related to the implementation of new technology comes the need to ensure adequate storage capacity and data redundancy to help guard against data loss in the event of a system interruption. Commonly referred to as a "disaster recovery" plan, the concept is to establish data redundancy in a secondary electronic location to help ensure for the successful recovery of data in the event of a data loss in the primary storage systems. ...
