BACKGROUND:
The City and Oceanographic Teaching Stations, Inc. (OTS), a non-profit corporation, maintain an ongoing contract for the operation of the Roundhouse Marine Studies Lab & Aquarium located at the end of the Manhattan Beach Pier. This contract was approved by the City Council on September 6, 2005, and provides for Oceanographic Teaching Stations, Inc. to occupy approximately 1,550 square feet of the western space in the Roundhouse rent-free. The organization is responsible for electrical services and for maintenance of the interior of their portion of the facility. The City provides maintenance of the exterior of the building and the restroom facilities.
DISCUSSION:
As part of the contractual agreement with the City, Oceanographic Teaching Stations, Inc. is required annually to submit to the City a financial statement and report of activities. These documents are included here as Attachments 1 and 2.
CONCLUSION:
Staff recommends that the City Council receive and file this report.
