Recommended Action
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that City Council approve the Request for Proposal (RFP) for Skate Park Planning Services to provide community outreach, propose skate park locations, type of skate park and funding options.

FISCAL IMPLICATIONS:
Up to $20,000 in funding was approved by the City Council for skate park planning services. Additionally, staff time will be required to manage the proposal process and consultant team, should the City Council approve the RFP.

BACKGROUND:
This item was initially scheduled on the Consent Calendar for the September 2, 2014, City Council Meeting, but was postponed to a future meeting date. At its July 15, 2014 meeting, the City Council directed staff to draft an RFP for a skate park consultant to provide community outreach, propose skate park locations, the type of park, and how it would be funded. The City Council directed staff to take Polliwog Park out of potential locations, and to prioritize locations that are non-residential and explore donations of private property and private funding. Further, the consultant team that is selected will not be allowed to bid on the project construction, or any additional scope of work associated with this project.

DISCUSSION:
