RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that the City Council issue the attached report pursuant to Government Code Section 65858(d).

BACKGROUND:
On July 15, 2014, the City Council adopted Interim Zoning Ordinance (IZO) ORD U14-0011 prohibiting the conversion of any commercial use classification to a different commercial use Classification in the downtown area of the City. On August 19, 2014 and July 7, 2015, the City Council extended the IZO. As extended, the IZO is set to expire on July 15, 2016.
DISCUSSION:
Pursuant to Government Code Section 65858, ten days before the expiration of an interim ordinance, the City Council shall issue a written report describing the measures taken to alleviate the condition which led to the adoption of the ordinance. In order to comply with this section, the City has prepared the attached report.
CONCLUSION:
Staff recommends that the City Council issue the attached report pursuant to Government Code Section 65858(d).
