Recommended Action
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that the City Council take the following actions:
1) Adopt Resolution No. 23-0104 approving Amendment No. 1 to the Agreement with Arakelian Enterprises, Inc., dba Athens Services (Athens), for street sweeping services only at a cost not to exceed $219,014.
2) Appropriate $110,000 from various funds to temporarily insource pressure washing services...Body
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS:
The original agreement with Athens was executed in September 2018. At that time, the monthly cost for street sweeping and pressure washing services was $51,611.64. With annual CPI increases over the last five years, the current monthly payment is $57,165. This pricing is valid until August 31, 2023, when the original agreement expires.
Under the proposed Amendment No. 1, the monthly cost for street sweeping services only will be $56,338. This amounts to a total cost of $169,014 from September 1, 2023 through November 30, 2023. An additional contingency amount of $50,000 for unforeseen services or emergencies has been included in the amendment for a total maximum compensation of $219,014 for the three month period.
