RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that the City Council consider adopting Resolution No. 25-0019 approving the donation of surplus fire equipment to the El Camino College Fire Academy and Rio Hondo Fire Academy and authorizing the City Manager to execute associated agreements.

FISCAL IMPLICATIONS:
The surplus fire equipment, including air packs, air bottles, regulators, and masks, has an estimated value between $10,000 - $14,000, which the City will forego by donating to these agencies.
BACKGROUND:
All of the requested fire equipment, air packs, air bottles, regulators, masks, etc., are nearing the end of their useful life and have been replaced according to National Fire Protection Association guidelines. As a result, these items have been removed from service. Standard procedure is to either auction or send to a scrap metal recycler for the best attainable value as required by the City's Municipal Code, however, this requirement may be waived by the City Council.
DISCUSSION:
Staff has received a request from the El Camino College Fire Academy Rio Hondo Fire Academy to donate used fire equipment for the academies' use. In the past, the City has donated surplus property to this organization to support their training efforts.
