Receive the report on the Police Department 2016-2018 Strategic Plan.

FISCAL IMPLICATIONS:
There are no fiscal implications in this action. Asset Forfeiture Funds (monies seized from criminals) were used to develop the Strategic Plan.
BACKGROUND:
The Manhattan Beach Police Department's 2013-2015 Strategic Plan expired on December 31, 2015. Over the past three years, guided by the 2013-2015 Strategic Plan, the men and women of the Manhattan Beach Police Department accomplished a great deal, including collaborating with community members to develop innovative and creative ways to reduce crime, increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of the department's internal operations, enhancing career development, developing a master training plan, evaluating sworn and civilian staffing needs, and enhancing partnerships with other local police agencies. Work began on the creation of the Police Department's new Strategic Plan in July 2015. Workshops, surveys, and meetings were conducted with supervisors and with sworn and civilian personnel representing every rank and Section in the Police Department. Two community workshops were also conducted in preparation for the new plan.
DISCUSSION:
The 2016-2018 Strategic Plan took effect on January 1, 2016 and serves as a road map to guide the Police Department in the delivery of police services to the Manhattan Beach community. As a result of the wor...
