Recommended Action
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that the City Council ratify the purchase of one budgeted Ford F250 stake bed from Ted Jones Ford Inc. dba Ken Grody Ford in the amount of $66,781.86 and one Chevrolet Tahoe from Camino Real Chevrolet in the amount of $66,376.71 pursuant to Manhattan Beach Municipal Code (MBMC) Section 2.36.140 (Waivers).

FISCAL IMPLICATIONS:
Sufficient funds for these vehicles are available in the Fleet Management Fund. Funds for the Chevrolet Tahoe are available through cancelling a purchase order due to a long lead-time for delivery of a similar vehicle originally approved at the February 21, 2023, City Council meeting.

BACKGROUND:
On July 5, 2023, City Council authorized an alternative purchasing process for the acquisition of budgeted vehicles and related equipment for Fiscal Year (FY) 2023-2024. In summary, staff proposed an informal bidding process for vehicles and equipment budgeted in FY 2023-2024 for items in stock or in transit provided that the purchase is subsequently ratified by City Council.

The FY 2023-2024 budget includes funding for the purchase of 13 vehicles in the City's fleet to retain service levels, reduce repair costs, and provide cost-effective fleet operations.
