Recommended Action
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that the City Council:
1. Approve final payment in the amount of $42,194.29 to KTB Construction Inc. for the Rosecrans Avenue Widening Project;
2. Formally accept the construction contract for the Rosecrans Avenue Widening Project as complete; and
3. Authorize filing of the appropriate Notice of Completion and the release of retention in the amount of $19,610.16.

FISCAL IMPLICATIONS:
The City Council appropriated funding in the amount of $525,000 for this project in the Fiscal Year 15/16 Capital Improvement Plan Budget. The final Budget and Expenditures report is provided as Attachment No.1.
BACKGROUND:
For the past several years, City staff had been working with Southern California Edison to underground existing overhead utilities along Rosecrans Avenue from Redondo Avenue to Manhattan Gateway. SCE completed the underground work and removed their overhead wires and poles. Removing the wires and poles allowed the City to widen Rosecrans Avenue along these limits in order to construct an additional eastbound through lane which would match the current through lane configuration east of Manhattan Gateway. The scope of this project generally included relocation/reconstruction of the existing curb/gutter/sidewalk/access ramps, traffic signal modifications, and signing/striping modifications. The project also includes construction of a right turn pocket at Manhattan Gateway.
