RECOMMENDATION:
Receive and file Southern California Edison’s 2018 Circuit Reliability Review report (Attachment) for the City of Manhattan Beach.

DISCUSSION:

Southern California Edison (SCE) is the sole utility provider of electricity for the City of Manhattan Beach. The company operates 16 circuits and an extensive network of transmission and distribution lines, transformers, and substations that serve power to the City’s nearly 36,000 residents.

SCE has provided the attached report showcasing significant grid reliability and service improvements over the past few years. The report includes historical reliability data for providing power through its circuits. A summary of both momentary and sustained outages and their causes is included in the report.

Due to the social distancing measures currently in place, a virtual meeting was held between SCE and the City Council Utilities Subcommittee to review the data on June 24, 2020.
