Receive and file contingency report for the Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) Projects Completed in Fiscal Year 2015-2016.

There are no fiscal implications associated with the recommended action.

BACKGROUND:
Typically CIP Projects that are contracted out to building contractors include a contingency allocation that provides a means to process timely payments to the contractor for unforeseen work that may be required as part of the contracted scope of work. The following is a brief summary report on the completed projects that utilized the allocated contingency by City Council.

DISCUSSION:
Of the 13 completed CIP Projects reported to City Council for FY15-16, six (6) projects used contingency funds, all of which were under the authorized contingency amount, to complete the project. Explanations regarding the use of contingencies in CIP Projects completed in Fiscal Year 2015-2016 are as follows:

Downtown Streetscape Crosswalk and Slurry Seal:
A contingency in the amount of $11,755 was used for this project. The City Council awarded the construction contract in the amount of $876,563 with an authorized contingency amount of $87,656.30. The final cost of the construction contract was $888,318. During the course of construction, additional work items were required in order to complete the project.
