Recommended Action
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that the City Council approve a Resolution authorizing the continued participation in the Los Angeles Urban County Community Development Block Grant Program for the three year funding cycle beginning July 1, 2015 and ending June 30, 2018.

FISCAL IMPLICATIONS:
The City of Manhattan Beach receives approximately $100, 000 in CDBG funding each fiscal year, which we have historically exchanged with other cities for general funds. Starting fiscal year 2013-2014, the LACDC discontinued the use of exchanging funds and informed cities that CDBG funds will have to be used for eligible projects, such as capital improvement projects. CDBG eligible projects will be identified and funding allocated through the City's annual Capital Improvement budgeting process.

BACKGROUND:
The City of Manhattan Beach has participated in the Los Angeles Urban County CDBG Program, implemented by the Los Angeles County Community Development Commission (CDC) for the past eighteen (18) years. Because of the City's population (under 50,000), the City must participate in the Urban County program in order to continue receiving CDBG funding.
