RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that the City Council approve the inclusion of the 2026 FIFA World Cup and 2028 Summer Olympics Subcommittee as part of the City Council Assignments, ensuring the City is positioned to engage with planning efforts and maximize potential benefits for the community.
Additionally, it is recommended that the City Council appoint Mayor Howorth and Councilmember Tarnay to serve as Delegate and Alternate, facilitating active participation and representation in discussions and initiatives related to these global sporting events, which may impact local infrastructure, tourism, and economic opportunities.
