Recommended Action
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that the City Council:
a) Approve Third Amendment to Agreement between the City of El Segundo and the City of Manhattan Beach for Median Landscape Maintenance of Rosecrans Avenue Between Highland Avenue and Aviation Boulevard.
b) Authorize the City Manager to execute a contract with the City of El Segundo.

FISCAL IMPLICATIONS:
Sufficient funds are budgeted in the Fiscal Year 2012-2013 Public Works budget for the remainder of current year expenses. Future annual costs will be incorporated into the annual budget development process.
BACKGROUND:
On May 3, 1977, the City entered an agreement with the City of El Segundo for the joint maintenance of landscaped medians on Rosecrans Avenue. The City of Manhattan Beach performs maintenance on the medians between Highland Avenue and Aviation Boulevard. The City of El Segundo performs maintenance on the medians between Sepulveda Boulevard and Aviation Boulevard.
The original agreement was for 20 years. The first extension of the agreement was approved on June 16, 1997 for 5 years. The second extension of the agreement was approved on November 19, 2002 and extended the term to November 19, 2012.
DISCUSSION:
It is desirable for both cities to continue the maintenance arrangement. The proposed third amendment will extend the term of the agreement to November 20, 2022. All other terms and conditions of the original agreement will remain the same.
CONCLUSION:
Staff recommends that the City Council:
a) Approve Third Amendment to Agreement between the City of El Segundo and the City of Manhattan Beach for Median Landscape Maintenance of Rosecrans Avenue Between Highland Avenue and Aviation Boulevard.
b) Authorize the City Manager to execute a contract with the City of El Segundo.
