BACKGROUND:
At the May 6, 2014, City Council meeting, Kyle King was appointed to the Parking and Public Improvements Commission.  At the time of this new appointment, Mr. King was a current, seated member of the Board of Building Appeals.  The appointment of Mr. King to the Parking and Public Improvements Commission created a vacancy on the Board of Building Appeals (Seat No. 4).  At the June 3, 2014, City Council meeting, City Council declared Seat No. 4 on the Board of Building Appeals vacant and directed the City Clerk to advertise the vacancy and accept applications from the public.

DISCUSSION:
The appointment of Kyle King to the Parking and Public Improvements Commission created a vacancy on the Board of Building Appeals.  The seat that Mr. King occupied on the Board of Building Appeals was Seat No. 4, which is a Member-at-Large seat.  As a result of Mr. King's subsequent appointment to the Parking and Public Improvements Commission, the vacant seat on the Board of Building Appeals must be filled.  At the June 3, 2014, City Council meeting, City Council declared Seat No. 4 on the Board of Building Appeals vacant and directed the City Clerk to post the vacancy, advertise the vacancy and accept applications from the public.

The City Clerk's office placed an advertisement in the June 5, 2014 edition of the Beach Reporter, posted notices on the City's website (www.citymb.info), and placed notices on the City's posting boards.  The deadline to submit applications for this vacant seat was Monday, June 23, 2014.  The City Clerk's office received one application.

At the direction of City Council, the City Clerk is presenting the eligible individual to City Council for City Council consideration.

CONCLUSION:
Staff recommends that the City Council appoint Jeffrey Feldman to the Board of Building Appeals - Seat No. 4.
