RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends that the City Council approve the City Council Assignments.

FISCAL IMPLICATIONS:

There are no fiscal implications associated with the recommended action.

BACKGROUND:

At the City Council meeting of May 19, 2026, the City Council reorganized and appointed a new Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem.

At the May 19, 2026 City Council meeting, the approval of the City Council Assignments was continued to the June 2, 2026, City Council meeting, for City Council discussion.

Historically, each Mayor reviews the standing list of City Council assignments to various government and community-related committees and develops a list for City Council approval. The assignments provided by incoming Mayor Franklin are attached for City Council consideration.

CONCLUSION:

Staff recommends that the City Council approve the City Council Assignments as proposed by Mayor Franklin.

PUBLIC OUTREACH:
After analysis, staff determined that public outreach was not required for this issue.

ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW:
The City has reviewed the proposed activity for compliance with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and has determined that the activity is not a “Project” as defined under Section 15378 of the State CEQA Guidelines; therefore, pursuant to Section 15060(c)(3) of the State CEQA Guidelines, the activity is not subject to CEQA. Thus, no environmental review is necessary.

LEGAL REVIEW:
The City Attorney has reviewed this report and determined that no additional legal analysis is necessary.
