On December 11, 2024, the Planning Commission considered the item described below:
Consideration of a Use Permit amendment to modify operating hours of an existing outdoor dining area within the public right-of-way adjacent to an existing eating and drinking establishment (Uncle Bill’s Pancake House) located at 1305 Highland Avenue and finding the project exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act.
The December 11, 2024, Planning Commission meeting was duly noticed on November 27, 2024. Members of the public spoke in favor of the Use Permit Amendment request, which would allow a shift in hours of operation for outdoor dining in the 13th Street public right of way. After the close of the public hearing, the Planning Commission expressed support for the project. Based on substantial evidence in the record, and pursuant to the Manhattan Beach Local Coastal Program and Manhattan Beach Municipal Code, the Planning Commission adopted the resolution (5-0), approving the project and adopting the environmental determination, in accordance with staff’s recommendation.
