Consideration of a Resolution Awarding a Construction Agreement to Oppenheimer National for the Polliwog Park Fitness Station Replacement Project for $196,901 Including Contingency; and Determining that the Project Qualifies for a Categorical Exemption Pursuant to Section 15301 of the State CEQA Guidelines (Public Works Director Lee).

RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that City Council:
1. Adopt Resolution No. 24-0022:
a. Awarding a construction contract to Oppenheimer National for the Polliwog Park Fitness Station Replacement Project (Fitness Station Project) for $178,901; and
b. Authorizing the City Manager to execute the agreement and authorizing the City Manager and/or his or her designee to approve an extra work contingency up to $18,000; and
c. Approving the Final Plans and Specifications for the Project.
2. Determine that the project is categorically exempt pursuant to State CEQA Guidelines Section 15301.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS:
Sufficient funds of $196,901 are currently available for the construction agreement under consideration with Oppenheimer National within the CIP Fund. A Budget and Expenditure Summary Report is attached.
BACKGROUND:
The installation of the National Fitness Campaign (NFC) fitness court and equipment at Polliwog Park is included in the City's 5-Year Capital Improvement Plan. Staff selected the NFC fitness court equipment because it provides opportunities for people of all ages and fitness levels, will accommodate more users than the current fitness station, and provides a variety of additional fitness opportunities.
